Since 1 January 2025 the Danish industry codes (DB25) no longer have a separate code for online shops. Webshops are now registered by what they sell, clothing, electronics, furniture and so on, and are counted under those business types instead.
The businesses shown here are mainly registered with the new codes for intermediation in retail (typically online marketplaces and platforms), together with businesses that closed while they still had the old webshop codes. The drop over 3 years therefore mostly reflects the new codes, not webshops closing, and the number will keep falling as older registrations disappear.
